Well after just under 6 months of waiting, we finally closed on the loan portion of our project. This has been holding up everything. As a result, we didn't apply for the permits until we had a closing date. Of course now the permits are on hold. Plus all the delays have pushed us into the middle of winter so it could be months before we start. I remember back when we thought we would be breaking ground by mid-September. Ha!
What we learned when dealing with banks and the city:
1. Even after the bank or city tells you that they don't need any other information from you, they ultimately will need something else.
2. Don't expect them to tell you when they need something else, because they wont. You have to keep checking on the status. Then they usually will tell you they forget to ask you for something.
3. When they tell you it will take "x" number of weeks, multiply that by 2. Or 3. Or 4....
4. Learn how to be patient. You will do a lot of waiting.
